Bill Maher in ‘Real Time’ claims the rise of the LGBTQ community may be driven by the need to be trendy

Bill Maher Touch one of the three community bars on his house tonight HBO show At presentAnd The rise of the LGBTQ community took his “New Rules” editorial at the end of the show.

Noting that polls have documented a massive increase in those claiming LGBTQ status, he questioned whether people should be allowed to ask, “What’s up with that?”

It wasn’t long ago that adults asked children what they wanted to be when they grew up. “They meant any profession,” Maher joked.

He quoted a recent American Civil Liberties Union finding that claimed that the abortion rights debate affects LGBT people more than so-called “educators.” With that allowed, everyone should always be respectful and protective of others, he said, “Someone has to say that—it’s not all about you. It’s OK to ask questions about something very new,” and leaned toward putting young children on hormone blockers.

“We are literally testing it on children,” Maher claimed, adding that we don’t know the long-term effects of that, “but logic tells you there will be problems,” citing bone density and fertility, among other things. “This is not a lifestyle decision,” he added.

Maher said the upcoming Pride Parade in New York does not feature gay men like Grand Marshall. “That’s where we are now – gay men aren’t well enough for Gay Pride parade.” He added, “Gay is practically a cis, and a cis is practically a Mormon.”

He’s tried to prove that surveys suggesting a rise in the LGBTQ community is trendy, saying “Teens know ‘master mentoring’ is anything that shocks and challenges the boxes you’ve grown up with. That’s why no one gets their nose ring at age 56.”

He claimed that the response to requests for hormone blockers and genital surgery is the use of children as part of the culture wars, and called for waiting. “If you are a man who wants to experience life without a pair of balls, you can marry,” he noted.

“Never forget that children are very impressionable and stupid,” Maher said. A boy who thinks he’s a girl might just be gay — or whatever Frazier is, noting that being a girl doesn’t mean you have to act like a Kardashian. And perhaps, if life is making you sad, “there are solutions other than giving me the saw.”

“I understand that being trans is different, it is innate,” Maher said. “But kids have stages. Kids are fluid about everything. If they knew at the age of eight what they wanted to be, the world would be full of cowboys and princesses.” He recalls, “I wanted to be a pirate. Thank God, no one planned me to have eye removal and leg ligation surgery.”

Earlier, Maher had a rather frightening discussion with former Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, who has a new book, Sacred Oath: Memoirs of a Secretary of Defense During Extraordinary Times.

Esper, who was eventually fired by Trump, had to talk with the former president about ordering troops to shoot protesters outside the White House.

Asked by Maher about assuming if Trump would run for president and lose – and then run again – where the military would stand, Esper said most of them would stand by the American people and against any attempted coup.

Maher ridiculed Esper’s claim that the $800 billion US defense budget was insufficient, as he claimed in his book, and stood his feet before the fire when he questioned whether there were concessions in his business.

But the main question – who will vote Esper in the 2024 presidential race with Trump and “which Democrat” was also spurred on by Esper. He allowed that he would not vote for Trump, but added: “If Joe Biden continues to be drawn to the left, I can’t vote for him either.”

The panel featured former Democratic activist Donna Brazile and podcaster Adam Carola. There was one interesting moment when Brazil brought up the government’s claim that the most important threat facing the country is white supremacy, something Carola said was “full of shit.”
